Italy

Italy has always been a fascinating country to me. It is so beautiful, and it has so much scenery, and history, and good food.There are so many places to visit in Italy, such as Rome, Florence, Bologna, Sicily, Siena, Verona, Vicenza, Venice, Sorrento, Sardinia, Ravenna, Pompeii, Mantova, Lake Garda, and Capri.

Geography: The country is rather large. It is the size of Georgia and Florida combined. About 301,225 sq.km. The climate there is mild Mediterranean and cold northern winters. There are 94 provinces and 20 regions.

The main religion: Is Roman Catholic

People: There are approximately 57.8 million. The people are 98% literate. There are about 9.2% of the people who are unemployed. The ethnicity is widely ranged. It consists of German, French, Slovene, Albanian-Italian and of course Italian.

Agriculture: Consists of wheat, rice, grapes, olives, citrus fruits, potatoes, sugar beets, soybeans, beef, and dairy products.

Italy has been a Republic since June 2,1946.

The sites that interest me are: The Colosseum, The leaning tower of Pisa, Pompeii,The famous fountain, Lake Como, and Rome.

I hope one day soon that I may have the opportunity to visit Italy and all of the sites it has to offer.
